The work in progress of our new Tower Simulator 3 is moving forward and as we would love to show more previews of what this fantastic game will be… we are going to do it! So here you will find information that you were waiting for and promising images of the airports that are coming.
As we have already mentioned, the requests and suggestions of the users of our simulators (Tower! 3D and previous versions) have helped us to identify and incorporate the necessary improvements to develop a new great ATC simulator, or simply, the best simulator of ATC that you have seen. The contribution of our most faithful followers has been really fundamental.
Improved modeling
In addition to the many new airport requests (more about that later), it was also a very popular request to have the option to be closer to the action, i.e. bring the camera closer to the planes, the runway, the apron, etc. This is quite a challenge, since it is necessary for the models to be much more elaborate and detailed according to this new experience.
Let’s take a closer look at the improvements you can see. Tower! 3D planes were around 3-5000 polygons; Tower! Simulator 3 can easily handle 50,000 polygons per plane. Also our previous version used a 512 texture sheet, now a 4K texture is used and we also use normal maps to add even more and more detail.
If you are aware of our latest releases of airports for Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane you will have seen images of the detail achieved in these scenarios, or perhaps you already have them in your flight simulator. So that’s the level of detail you can expect at our airports for the Tower Simulator 3.
Based on this detailed modeling and ultra-high-definition textures, we can reach a level of detail that is really surprising and allows you to observe the scenes from many points of view without losing a single bit of quality. Do you want to see the takeoffs and landings as if you were peeking behind the vegetation that surrounds the airport? You can do it!
The airports that are coming
We know that this is information that you have been eagerly awaiting, so we are going to give you a preview of the airports that we can confirm will be in our new simulator. We have received many comments and requests from our followers and we have listened to each one of them, this is why we are developing those airports that have been requested the most and that cannot be missing.
Some airports will be included in the game by default, so you will have them available from the first moment. Others will be able to get them later as add-ons and others… Well, we will soon tell you how to get them.
The list of airports is not yet finished, but we can confirm some of the ones that will be part. One of the airports that you can enjoy in Tower! Simulator 3 will be the Raleigh-Durham (KRDU) in North Carolina. It has a main runway (5L-23R), a parallel runway (5R-23L) and a short runway (14-32), to serve its fluid regional traffic.
Another confirmed air terminal is St. Thomas Cyril E. King International Airport (TIST), with a single runway (10-28) but with the spectacular natural surroundings of a Caribbean island. You can see preview images of this scenario in previous articles on this blog.
LaGuardia 2023 at Tower! Simulator 3
New York’s LaGuardia airport is another one that is in full work in progress and the preview images that we want to share with you look good. With its new terminal design and fantastic Manhattan in sight, it promises to be one of the star airports in the simulation game.
It is also a challenging airport due to its huge in-flight and ground aircraft traffic and its two intersecting runways (4-22 and 13-31). You are going to have a lot of work to control this airport, are you ready?
